Installing TCP/IP

In order to install TCP/IP, Windows will need to take core files used in TCP/IP from the Windows distribution media. Note: Make sure that you have a Windows 95/98 CD-ROM available before proceeding.

  1. From the Network menu in Control Panel, click the Add button.
  2. Highlight Protocol and click Add.

  1. On the Select Network Protocol menu, select Microsoft from the list of Manufacturers on the left and then TCP/IP from the protocols list. Complete the operation by clicking the OK button.

  1. Files relating to TCP/IP will be copied to the computer from the Windows CD. Once all of the necessary files are copied, you should restart the machine so that changes can take effect.
