HTTP Options

The HTTP or HyperText Transfer Protocol is the Internet protocol used by web-browsers to request web-pages from the World Wide Web. In most cases, CProxy's default HTTP settings can be used without modification.

Listen to Which Port?
The number specified in this field defines the port number upon which CProxy Server will listen for HTTP requests from web-browsers on the Local Area Network. The default port is 8080.

TCP/IP Timeout
The TCP/IP timeout value specifies in seconds, the period of time that CProxy will attempt to contact a remote website. If no response is received within the defined period, CProxy will return an error to the requestors web-browser.

Use expired content if server unreachable
If CProxy Server is unable to contact the origin server for the content being requested and the content exists in the cache, CProxy will use the cached copy regardless of it's age if this box is checked.

Strip 'From' Header
When you request a website, it is possible for a remote webserver to know the last website you visited via headers in the HTTP request. Stripping the 'From' prevents this field from be passed onto the remote webserver.

When you request a website, it is possible for a remote webserver to know the last website you visited via headers in the HTTP request. Stripping the 'Referrer' prevents this field from be passed onto the remote webserver.
