IRC Client Configuration Tutorial

IRC or Internet Relay Chat is a method of 'talking' to people all over the world through a network of chat servers. This tutorial explains how to configure mIRC.

Note: Make sure that the SOCKS protocol has been setup in CProxy Server and on the workstation. If you are unsure of how to do this, see SOCKS configuration.

Firewall/Proxy Configuration

  1. Open mIRC.
  2. Click File.
  3. Click on the 'Connect' tree control in the left panel.
  4. Select Firewall.

  1. Check 'Use SOCKS firewall'.
  2. Select SOCKS 5 under protocol.
  3. Enter the IP address of the cproxy server into the 'Hostname' field.
  4. Set the 'Port' value to 1080.
  5. Press OK to complete the configuration.
